Jimmy and Cece's Santa Barbara, CA Engagement Session

Jimmy and Cece's Santa Barbara, CA Engagement Session

Jimmy and Cece are high school sweethearts that are so in love! We went to Goleta for some very sunny engagement photos and I may have made Jimmy pick Cece up approximately 500 times. I loved the sunset colors at the end of the session and we hung out with the pink and purple sky for a while, dancing and laughing until the end of the light. I can’t wait to photograph their wedding in July!

Brittney and Steffan's Yosemite, CA Couple's Session

Brittney and Steffan's Yosemite, CA Couple's Session

Brittney, Steffan, my boyfriend (Alex) and I were all camping in Yosemite for a group bouldering trip. We went straight from Camp Four up to the windy road to glacier point to catch the last rays of sun falling on the valley. It was such a great experience to see my friend Brittney so effortlessly happy with Steffan. We only had about fifteen or twenty minutes for photos, but I think we made it work! The next day I hiked up to Glacier Point rather than driving, and the view was spectacular the entire way up - I definitely recommend checking it out if you are in the valley!

Claudia and Jose's Pasadena, CA Family Session

Claudia and Jose have the most wonderful family - I met them last year shooting christmas card photos and I had the pleasure of hanging out with them again to repeat the experience! The kids were especially happy that we could incorporate more photos with the family pup. Sometimes the best location to just relax and be natural in photos is your own backyard!

Amy and Jeff's Malibu, CA Family Session

Amy and Jeff's Malibu, CA Family Session

Amy and Jeff had the cutest family - I loved hanging out with them and their kids! They travelled a long way for this sunset session at El Metador State Beach in Malibu, CA. Luckily they came before the wildfires hit California - the air quality in Malibu plummeted and many people lost their homes. It just goes to show you how we need to protect these precious places. It is also an important reminder of what matters - many people rush into homes to grab irreplaceable items like family photos. Make sure you take the time to get photos with your loved ones that you can cherish forever!

Riley and Kevin's Sunset Cliffs, CA Bridal Session

I have been dying to shoot a wedding or elopement at Sunset Cliffs in San Diego - the water is so blue and vibrant, and the cliffs make for such stunning backdrops. I was so glad when Riley and Kevin volunteered for this bridal session to make my Sunset Cliffs dreams come true. It was a crowded, but beautiful Saturday night on the coast - and it was such a great experience getting to hang out with these newlyweds by the waves.

Elena and John's Santa Barbara, CA Wedding

Elena and John's Santa Barbara, CA Wedding

Elena and John had their wedding at Cold Springs Tavern in the Santa Barbara Hills. They kept their wedding party small, but don’t think this means they didn’t have a big party! They had so many family and friends there with them to celebrate and the mood was infectiously happy and fun. The dance floor was crowded, the mini cupcakes were delicious, and don’t get me started on the tri-tip from the buffet. I loved capturing their special day, everything from getting ready with champagne to sneaking away for some beautiful sunset photos. See some of my favorites from their day in the full post!

Ana and Peter's Carlsbad, CA Family Session

Ana and Peter's Carlsbad, CA Family Session

I have done quite a few family sessions lately, and I have loved it! This one was special for a few reasons: 1) it featured my high school math teacher, a complete sweet heart and wonderful person 2) the tiny humans in this family are particularly adorable and 3) it features a family spanning three generations, only together a few times a year. I was so happy to photograph this loving group while they hung out near the waves in Carlsbad. It is so important to set aside time to take photos with your family as the years go by - I hope these will serve as happy memories for Ana and her family!

Nika and Alessandro's Hollywood, CA Portrait Session

Nika and I had a vision of a minimalistic black and white shoot, with harsh lighting and high contrast. She is in the midst of promoting a movie that she co-wrote and will co-star in with her friend Alessandro and I suggested we loop the film and Alessandro into this vision. It was so much fun working with these two together and sneaking in a few shots of just Nika as well. We chose a variety of beautifully contrasting film stocks: Ilford HP5+, TriX 400, and Tmax 400 and made our idea come to life!

Donna and Matt's San Diego, CA Family Session

Photographing families like the Fallons make my heart so happy. Theses kids were so full of fun and energy, and I had a great time chasing them around a playground in San Diego. I first photographed Donna and Matt’s boys many years ago when I was just starting to take photography seriously, so it was really special to revisit my favorite clients and give them updated images of their kiddos. Hope you enjoy this set as much as I do!

Lauren and Josh's Malibu, CA Engagement Session

Lauren and Josh were on vacation with their family all the way from Columbus, Ohio and ready to explore the California coast. I was so excited to come back to El Metador State Beach for more golden hour photos! This beach never disappoints - the rocks and soft sand make for such a great backdrop as the sun goes down. The only problem is that there are always tons of photographers that share my love of Malibu, and I spend a lot of time photoshopping out all the people!

Nika's Hollywood, CA Portrait Session on Film

I have been wanting to do a collaborative film shoot with Nika ever since I found out we were both in LA! Nika is a talented screen writer, actor, and producer - it was a dream to shoot with someone that had so much creativity! We walked around the streets near Nika’s Los Feliz apartment, stopping at bougainvillea bushes, well lit fences, and even her backyard lemon tree. I hope you enjoy this set, I am really proud of these images!

Letitia and Sergiy's Santa Barbara, CA Couple's Session

I had just shot a long wedding in Santa Barbara the night before this sunrise session and I was starting to regret my decision to wake up so early. It was especially difficult to motivate after seeing a mountain of fog roll in at 6am, covering any sunrise light. But Sergiy and Letitia were such a joy to photograph that I quickly forgot any tiredness I was feeling. They laughed and danced the entire shoot and made my job so easy. I really appreciated their positive energy and their willingness to get soaked at the end of the session!

Johanna and Joseph's LA Arts District Couples Shoot

Joseph and Johanna’s couple session was a bit different for me - normally I shoot in parks and landscapes, but they wanted an edgier shoot with skyscrapers and city vibes The murals and textures in the arts district are really incredible and made for some awesome backdrops. I was a little out of my comfort zone, but I had a great time exploring a new area of DTLA!

Evan and Kallan's Santa Barbara, CA Couples Session

I scouted out some locations for Evan and Kallan’s shoot weeks before and instantly fell in love with the bright yellow wildflowers overlooking the coast. I knew we needed some shots with waves and color and I think we definitely got them! It was a struggle for them to stay serious for some shots, but I love the laughter and fun we had on this shoot.

Erica and Matthew are two well dressed teenagers! I really enjoyed photographing this special day for them. I probably made them dance more than they did at the prom! Luckily they came prepared and brought juice boxes to hydrate during the photoshoot. Such a fun combination of hilarious and serious photos while we explored Caltech’s campus.

Megan's Senior Session at USC

It was so much fun hanging out with Megan at USC’s beautiful campus. We started at her apartment and ended at a gorgeous rose garden with golden hour light. We also made a huge mess with champagne spraying and I’m glad my camera is water resistant! Megan and I overlapped in undergrad at UCSB so it was so great to see her again and celebrate her master’s degree - although once a Gaucho, always a Gaucho!
